Danse Macabre (Fahey Variations) - Live @ GC #440 1/2/2020

about

This is the audio from a Facebook live video of my interpretation of John Fahey's "Dance Of Death" on a Taylor 656CE at the Guitar Center #440 in Dallas. You can even hear someone playing some electric blues in the background; hey, at least it's in a pretty close key. This guitar is still the most full sounding/bass heavy 12 string I've every played, shoulda sold a kidney - it was over 3k new!

As I recall this performance was a response to a comment which I had received from Stefan Grossman as a critique of an earlier one that was deemed "too fast." Some creatures rage against the dying of the light.

I seek to clear the fog, shatter stylistic modalities and challenge the accepted conventions of performance, execution and technique by juxtaposing new technology and old traditions. ... more
